Meet Scott

Scott C. Barks is an award-winning Financial Planner / Long-term Care Specialist based in Bakersfield, California with 17 years of experience in the field.

Scott provides clients with advice on retirement planning, estate preservation and investment management. His approach to financial guidance is to educate first, which he believes results in clearer, more confident financial decisions on the part of his clients. He is deeply committed to helping people pursue their financial goals and feels a strong sense of responsibility to help his clients enjoy the money that they have worked so hard to acquire.

Scott is a native Bakersfield resident. In 1994, he graduated from California State University with a BA in English. He later received his Chartered Financial Consultant designation (ChFC®). He also plays an active role within his partnership – First Solutions Insurance Services – which specializes in employee benefits, life and health insurance including Medicare planning. He has had the privilege of teaching hundreds of clients new and insightful long term care planning concepts over the past 30 years. Scott was originally drawn to the issue of long term care through personal experience with a family friend, and more recently with a close family member.

Scott has served as past president of his Rotary club in Bakersfield where he received Rotarian of the Year. He enjoys spending time with his three children – Jonah, Jacob and Grace, along with his wife Amy. Some of his hobbies include reading, playing guitar and occasionally a good round of golf. Scott volunteers at our local Bakersfield Rescue Mission and Behind the Walls Events.
